Members nerol1st
I know it's not a serious piece of equipment (and that it wasn't designed to be) but I thought the idea of recording direct to iPod was a great idea: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/-Tune-Studio?sku=241814
Members UstadKhanAli
We record to an iPod for band rehearsals, although not with that, and find it extremely handy. Since the drummer already has an iPod, we just hook up a tiny Soundcraft board via Belkin and have decent MP3s that we can instantly share via email. Alesis has a bunch of iPod mixing boards that they were showing at NAMM.
Phil O'Keefe
Ken, what are you using to get audio into your iPod?
Members UstadKhanAli
Phil, I believe it's the Belkin TuneTalk. We're not using the microphones on it. Instead, we have a couple of mics set up in the room. Mics > Soundcraft mini-mixer > Belkins TuneTalk > iPod. It's not as convenient as some of those Alesis iPod mixers, but it gets the job done quite well nevertheless. Actually, it may sound better than the Alesis mixers since I suspect the mic preamps are higher quality on the Soundcraft mixer. If it's not the Belkin TuneTalk, it's super similar in size and name, and is definitely made by Belkin. We bought it about two years ago.
Members nerol1st
I think I am gonna try a test. Going to use the iPod (hopefully) as a hard drive. I only have a mini though.
Members Zooey
At NAMM, Belkin was also showing a two track version of that. It basically turns an iPod into a portable recorder like a Zoom or Edirol.
