If you became president of Gibson (with authorty to make any changes you see fit), what would the 1st 3 things you would do? Be as specific as you want.

This thread is not to bash Gibson but to see the differences of priorities people would have if they became president of Gibson. New guitar models or lines? Elminate certain models or lines? Change specs on certain models? New color/finishes? Change production processes, location, quality assurance/control...? Changes msrp's? CHange warranty? Build new plants? Close certain plants?

I'd get rid of the more affordable guitars like the studio, deluxe and classic, like the corksniffers are always crying about, saying they shouldnt exist because they distrupt the purity of Gibson. Then while they are all happy in their corksniffing ways. I will raise the prices of the guitars that are left 10 fold so that even they cant afford them anymore, then I bring back the classic, studio, and deluxe, and price them fairly as they usualy are.... and thus I will be happy:D

I'd stop making a new lame series every year like the "Voodoos" or "Gothics" or whatever. Spinoffs of the specials and studios with a few differences. No offense to anyone who has one, but they're pretty cheesy and I don't think many people buy them. Gibson has some good guitars, but they need to trim the fat of their lineup and shave some costs off their main guitars.

I'd cut the prices in half, first of all. Then I'd make every single model as versatile as possible. Coil taps, choices of P-90's, humbuckers, everything. I'd also have every model in every type of wood combination possible, and every solid body to have another hollowbody version of it, and visa versa. Then I'd make every model have different versions of it for different music, and I'd have all the classic models such as the SG, LP, Explorer, etc. come with lots of deals and bargains.

Then I'd lay in a million dollars and fornicate with porn stars.

The three things I'd do:

1. Let the Internet dealers show and sell their wares as THEY see fit. And don't make them buy a dozen Mandolins and two dozen Epis if they only want six LPs to stock.

2. Get Les Paul off of the payroll. That would shave off several hundred dollars off of each LP sold. If it means developing a new LP-like replacement without his name, then do it. But not with a girlie guitar. Seems to me they don't need umteen Les Paul named guitars of different sizes and shapes.

3. Offer SG's in something other than that Cherry finish. How about Pelham blue, or that pleasant green color I used to see way back when. Just lose the Cherry. There are enough in the world already.

I could probably add a few more.

LOL... this may surprise you ,, but i would pump up the import production and then start making the parts for the made in USA in line guitars out of the country and assemble them in the US keeping the usa image ..... When you are the ceo its all about making money and selling product. NO one ever said whores dont get paid well ..... i would whore out that gibson name for every dollar i could squeeze out of it ...... Gibson quit really being gibson when they left kzoo ...... build em cheap and sell a crapper load of them ,,,,,,,, I dont see too many people younger than 40 that would even notice ,,,,the old guys already have their classic gibbys ,, they bought them new in the 60s ......rat

I would make a top of the line guitar without the word historic or reissue attached to it Is Gibby moving through time in reverse.

An LP premium with

maple top

choice of 57, 58 59 60 neck profile

Long neck Tenon

choice of P90s or Buckers

Hovland caps

choice of Normal or Push Pull taps

Lightweight Mahogany no holes THANK YUUUUU

choice of binding ]

choice of mahogany stain

An LP Premium plus with

all of the above plus

AAA flame maple top

Brazilian Rosewood fretboard

I'd also offer a premium DC LP amd a new DC light weight with a PRS body style and dump the new vixen and other crappy new guitars
