Moderators Lee Knight Posted December 9, 2005 Moderators Share Posted December 9, 2005 Are you asking what our favorite Christmas record is? I've got Bing Crosby singing White Christmas at 78rpm. I've got an old Victrola. The combo is Christmas.
Members Tedster
I didn't know Blind Joe Death did a Christmas record...but I'd bet it'd be good. Probably my favorite Christmas records are the Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown one, and anything that has choral renditions of traditional carols. Phil O'Keefe
This will show my age, but my favorites include: Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown Johnny Mathis - Merry Christmas. And Nat King Cole... no Mathis, Guaraldi, or Cole, no Christmas.

It's pretty much the only thing I listen to in the car for the entire holiday season.
Members Dylan Walters
The Muppets with John Denver. It's hokey as all get out, but as a kid I'd always listen to the record while decorating the Christmas tree.
Members blackpig
I hate Christmas songs Every year the same old tripe Except this: http://www.lyricsdownload.com/kevin-bloody-wilson-christmas-song-lyrics.html And this: Verse I Christmas bells are ringin, reeds hangin on the door, the fairys on the tree, presents on the floor, Santa Clause is comin, all the childrens waitings done, but i wouldn't hold your breath kids, cause Blackpig's got his gun. Chorus There's a dead man up the chimney we call him old st. Nick, we shot him up the arse and poked him with a stick, Oh' Christmas is cancelled old white beared is dead, we tried to pull him down we 'll have to burn him out instead. Verse II T'was a quiet Christmas Eve, we were snuggled up in bed, we heard hooves upon the roof, thats when Blackpig raised his head. He ran down through the front room brandishing his gun, aimed it up the chimney, shot the intruder up the bum. Chorus There's a dead man up the chimney we call him old st. Nick, we shot him up the arse and poked him with a stick, Oh' Christmas is cancelled old white beared is dead, we tried to pull him down we 'll have to burn him out instead. Verse III There'll be no more singin, there'll be no more joy, with the reigndeers put down and the elves are unemployed, don't bother with the tree, no more excitment going to bed, cause Blackpig shot old Santy Clause and pumped him full of led. Chorus There's a dead man up the chimney we call him old st. Nick, we shot him up the arse and poked him with a stick, Oh' Christmas is cancelled old white beared is dead, we tried to pull him down we 'll have to burn him out instead. "So did ya slay Santa Blackpig? What! Did ye shoot him in the sack? Ruldof has a red nose, with blood! C'mon kids! Members Red Winger
I love a lot of the old standards, as noted above, Bing, Mathis, Belafonte, Cole, Guaraldi, etc., etc. A more modern one that I like a lot, though, is "Maybe This Christmas." I believe there's a couple sequels, including "Maybe This Christmas Tree." Actually, I just popped onto iTunes today and downloaded a bunch of holiday songs: Carol of the Bells --Barenaked LadiesChristmas Time Is Here -- David BenoitIn the Bleak Midwinter --Harry Christophers & The SixteenJingle Bells -- Diana Krall & The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz OrchestraSanta Claus Is Coming to Town --Bill Evans TrioI'll Be Home for Christmas -- Vibrolux Some Children See Him -- Dave GrusinMaybe This Christmas -- Ron Sexsmith The Christmas Song (Michael Kessler Open Fire Mix) -- Mel Torm
