Members ILikeGuitar
I prefer smooth satin feel necks.. glossy on thick chunky necks is kinda annoying I guess because my hand sticks a little bit to the neck.

Members Peekaboo Fuzzy
Those Jackson SL-1 and SL-2 painted necks are awesome! My steinberger M series guitar also had a glossy neck. Glossy necks are nice and modern looking and they are sleek!
Members steve_man
i dont really see the point of having a guitar's specs saying, rather boasting 'maple neck' when it has a disgusting high gloss finish on em that makes it very hard to slid up and down the neck....unless you have VERY dry hands, and your dead skin starts to fall off like snow flakes, high gloss necks suck...anyone else with me?and they pretty much the only reason i dont wanna get a high end guitar. if i would end up sanding down the paint on the neck, that may {censored} up the guitar....and i dont trust myself.what do you do to work around it? or do you actually like high gloss necks? I really don't see that it's that big of a deal. I have guitars with both finishes, and they are equally easy to play, IMO.
Members metalheadUK
I dont care how they are finished, just as long as they are not sticky.
Frets99
I don't mind the rant so much as the dis-information. Threads that are factually incorrect lead young guitarists to go through life with faulty premises. I like to state my preferences while still having my facts straight. Members Attila
Depending on how thick the gloss is, it could take some getting used to -- still, with enough play, it will start to wear down.
Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted July 27, 2007 Moderators Share Posted July 27, 2007 A guitar without a high-gloss neck feels... cheap. For me personally, high-gloss is also much more comfortable You're soooo right, you wouldn't want to rub your hand up and down a neck that felt like the inside of a young girl's thighs would you now;)
