Members Gravity
It was in the stand, and stupid me tripped over the cord plugged into it, pulled it off balance and it fell backwards onto the concrete. And you know what? The headstock and neck lived, with only some minor blemishes on the top back of the headstock to show for it. +1 for Agile

Members JoeBoy
Dropped my 2500 when the strap actually broke. The pin going through the leather that holds the nylon strap let go. Smacked body down and slapped the headstock on the bare floor. Chipped the paint only.

Members kherman
It's the extra thickness of the poly finish that saved it. If it were nitro, that headstock would gone! Just kidding.
Members DaveAronow
See, now THAT is the proper way to relick a guitar. Naturally, by playing, using and sheer utter clumsiness!
Members ihavenofish
im curious what wood is under that gold top now all my agiles are maple, yours looks too dark though. mahogany cap maybe?
Members docjeffrey
Whew! Glad to hear it's OK. What kind of stands do you use? I think that if it would have fallen on its face, you would have had a different result. Most Gibson headstock breaks occur when the guitar falls forward and the nut makes direct contact with the ground.
Members ihavenofish
"Most Gibson headstock breaks occur when the guitar falls forward and the nut makes direct contact with the ground" interesting. makes sense too. backward, i think theres enough flex in the headstock to take a fall, especially a maple neck. Members catalinagooseV2
Plastic encased wallboard is very sturdy Actually, my AL2500 is indestructible. The neck is made of a very hard maple like substance and the headstock is spliced onto the neck with a scarf joint. Pretty sturdy.

IIRC, the goldtops, black, & I believe white used to be advertised w/ no maple cap/all mahogany bodies.
Members axegrinder
+1 for Agile Actually I'd be more likely to say "+1 for maple". Those are maple necks, no? BTW, your HC User Name is ironic.
Members soliloquy
thats why you should keep your guitars in a well carpeted area, to cushion the fall... but then again, i'm a woss and wont dare pull out my guitar from my room glad to hear its all good
Members Gravity
yeah, mojo, natural relicing, lesson learned, all of the above notice, I DID NOT bring my Gibby out there last night ... heheheh the stand was some nondescript collapsible job that is probably 10 years old
