Members studdhuss
I just recently came upon one of these guitars from the early 1980's.It has the toggle switch above the volume controls instead of beside it, and the input jack is on the side of the guitar (ala LP) instead of the front.I remember these guitars and was told at one point this is how Gibson planned on selling the SG 'from now on'.Glad to see that didn't turn out to be true.Avatar shows Angus Young playing an SG II in Dec 1981. Members Ponec
Or you can go directly to this page: http://www.everythingsg.com/identify/sg_II.htm where it states that the SG II was manufactured from '72-'79. Are you absolutely sure of the year of the guitar or the model? Check out the "Identify" page: http://www.everythingsg.com/identify_guitars.htm to double check if there is any question. -Ron
Members Kap'n
The '72-ish SG II was a different beast.
Members orourke
I know this doesn't exactly fit your discription, but I have an 1988 SG Special II. It has an ebony fretboard.

Members Kap'n
Mine was modded when I got it. That's a good mod. The stock mini-hum is plinky as {censored} in the bridge, but it makes for a nice neck pickup. Those have got tiny necks, too. Fun instruments, though. I used to have some wierdo-mutant SG that had a single chrome P90, and had the controls mounted on a tongue-depressor/tele shaped plate. Modded the hell (and value) out of it and sold it. I was young and stupid, and it was a $150 guitar at the time.
Members Bubbluz
Yeah tiny neck is right. I just use that guitar for slide now,the frets are worn down to the 'board.
