Members bourikaldo
Off the cuff answer, I'll just name the bands. Probably you should look for a "Best of" kind of thing. Beatles The Stones Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin Red Hot Chili Peppers Radiohead Black Sabbath Pearl Jam The Doors Good luck in your quest. If you go for all answers posted, you'll end up with a more than decent collection.

Members rgb338
I feel like I gotsa live longer to give this sorta advice, but I've really enjoyed (with moderate longevity) Led Zep 3,4 , Elmore James - King of the Slide Guitar, Albert King - King Albert, Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, The Muddy Waters Chess collection, and this might be a sin on this forum, but i've been hauling some awesome poetry lately from heiroglyphics-third eye vision, and dead prez-revolutionary but gangster, o and yonder mountain string band-mountain tracks. This kind of quantification is very subjective to the person and the times, when times get rough I dust off the blues, when I buy a new pair of sunglasses the ZZ top might bounce of the shelf, and when I'm trying to fill the time with a little thought and poetry I'll pop in some bob dylan or good hip hop (is it weird that I throw them in the same boat?) Anyway, good luck on your search for great new music, but know that it will only end if you stop the trial and error listening.
Members seven58
Getting back to the original poster...thought he was asking for "blues rock"...most the stuff here seems to be "classic rock" and the like. Good picks and all, but not many "blues rock". I mean..."Nine Inch Nails"? Though I will admit I think it would be interesting to hear Trent Reznor make a blues album. This is the part I saw when I posted... " top 10 cd's you must own? - please help..." Sorry to have gotten off topic. By the way, I forgot to mention Concrete Blonde. Members 12ax7
George Thorogood - Live Blimey, that brings back memories. Years ago, I had a car and Thorogood Live got stuck in the tape player. It was the only thing that would play and it was in there for months. If I never hear that CD again, it will be too soon. :poke:

And The Wipers should make the list too for great Pacific Northwest punk/grunge bands. I love all the bands that came out of that early scene. Such a history with all of them. Such as Green River... Didn't they split to become Mudhoney and Mother Love Bone, then Mother Love Bone incarnated into Pearl Jam... and Temple of the Dog was a tribute to Andrew Wood (lead singer of Mother Love Bone that died) included members of Sound Garden and Pearl Jam.
