Members thick_mike
Don't buy "anything by Hendrix". I've spoken to loads of people that say "Hendrix is crap...I've got [some crappy exploitation album cobbled together from jam sessions and out-takes] and it's rubbish!". It's hard to argue that Hendrix is a genius when your only experience of his music is "Get that Feeling". So get... Are You Experinced Cry of Love Axis: Bold as Love Those three albums have as many great tracks as any other ten albums.
Members docjeffrey
Blues:Blind Willie Johnson - "Sweeter as the Years Go By"Aretha Franklin - "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)"B.B. King - "Completely Well"Sonny Boy Williamson (II) - "Down and Out Blues"Junior Wells - "Hoodoo Man Blues"Muddy Waters - "Chess Box" (3 CD compilation)Robert Johnson - Complete collection) Golas, why is it that everyone who lives in White Bread Minnesota thinks that they are "enlightened" experts on black American music? I had this 24 year old woman in my class last semester from some small town in Minnesota. She'd probably never seen an African American in her entire life, but she had this collection of Stax records that she played all the time. It's just an observation. Don't be insulted or offended, please. The same thing is true of Starbucks. In their CD bins they always have a blues collection. I see 30 year old yuppies with their road bike outfits on buying that {censored} all the time. I can just see them at their neighborhood barbecues talking about how many 14ers they have climbed with their yellow lab while cooking up some tofu burgers and listening to Blind Willie Johnson. Members Dann-O
I think you're the first person I know that actually liked Ceremony. I thought that album was a big letdown. Sonic Temple on the other hand...This is where it all ends.. Hey I like Wild Hearted Son It is my favorite cult tune and brings back memories of being an ex pat in Saudi Arabia in the early 90's. Sonic Temple needs to started on max volume and just let it suck you in.
