I've bought an Epiphone Dot. Got it fairly cheap off of ebay. Sold as second hand but came like new, not even a scratch on the scratchplate! :)

The guitar dater project says:

"Your guitar was made at the

Qingdao Plant (Epiphone), China

June 2007

Production Number: 12962"

So no idea what its been doing for the last year!!

I'm loving this guitar so far. Epiphone seem to get a lot of complaints about the pickups but these ones are great, not too fat. I'm predominantly a single coil player and finds some humbuckers a bit bloated but these are really good. The bridge pickup is my favourite, it's quite a cutting sound yet it's still thick enough for lead bits. The two pickups together are nice for some clean rhythms and the neck pickup is really warm and has a nice jazzy tone.

As far as playability goes I'm also impressed but of course buying second hand you dont know who set it up so I can't credit Epi for the setup.

The hardware is good, grover tuners work perfectly and it stay in tune well. Pots are good-ish quality and I haven't suffered from the dreaded dodgy selector switche as of yet.

Overall I am happy with my purchase, it'll add something to the collection, bit of a difference to my strats and teles. Good quality, great price.

On a side note, I had an Epi Casino that I had to sell a while back and this was bought as a kind of replacement and I actually prefer this Dot to that Casino. I think a full hollow wasn't right for what i wanted, this one definitely has a quicker attack and feels alittle more solid. Having said this, the Casino was a great guitar.
