Members MattACaster
Been GASing for a shreddy Ibby recently but don't want to spend a ton of money. These looks like they have been going for a good price recently. What say you?
Members benricci
They are OK. Pretty much worth what they are going for on the used market - $199 or so...
Members RaVenCAD
570 = MIJ and 470 = supposedly MIJ, but the few I've played were pretty crappy.. For my money, this is a steal @ $399:
Members Ferdinandstrat
The 570 is a pickguardless 550, which is Ibanez's most famous RG.
Members skibob
My RG570 is my main axe. It gets a pretty wide range of tones. I have the stock V8, SB2, V7 pickups in it. If you never played one before the neck is really thin and pretty wide.

Members MattACaster
I like the look of these too. Would a 470 or 570 be better than this?
Members RaVenCAD
Not a bad lookin' fiddle! If it's still that price when I get my income tax refund (or when President Barry stimulates my economy!), watch for my NGD thread $199 for a 570? Show me a link, I'm getting 2! Members benricci
Really? I thought they were better than that...? For the 470. Can't vouch for the 570 as I've never played one. Sorry, I should have clarified earlier - that also goes for the $199 figure I was talking about.
Members metalheadUK
My RGT42 thru neck is a bloody nice guitar....

Members RaVenCAD
That's an RG5EX1, and it's a cool guitar.. I owned one for a few days, but I couldn't stand the matte finish.. Mine also had a popping sound in the nut, so I took it back. Felt great though, I'd own one again if they'd buff that damn body out.. Rather have the RGT42DX at the same price though.. The RG370DX is pretty cool too, for $50 less..

Members RaVenCAD
Differences that I see: RG5EX1 - rev head, HSH pups, bolt on neck, matte finishRGT42DX - reg head, HH pups, neck thru, gloss finish, matching head Same trem on both, same inlays, same frets, same neck profile.. They must be blowing the RGT42DX's out, cuz they were $700 when I bought my RG5EX1 around Christmas..

I think the 42DX has a matt finish...mine is matt black, and I've seen a matt blue. And they are mahogany (are not most RGs basswood...I know fuck all about Ibanez)

(i must do a belated NGD and post some pics) Anyway, regardless, it is a GREAT guitar!
Members Alchemist
funny, I sold mine for $500... sold the other one I had for $600.... both in great shape..... great guitar, build quality was up there with anything I currently own.... great neck, awesome bridge.... I believe only a few of the 470's were MIJ, the rest were MIK and not near as good..... either way, I dont know what youre getting for $199..... the only thing I've seen MIJ RG wise for $200 was completely beaten to {censored}, damaged neck joint, and worn down floyd.....
