Members rhancox
There are a number of recent threads on this very subject. I can personally vouche for Yamaha. The FG series is a very good value in the $200-$400 range. Many will be along with their recommendations.

Members rickoshea
Crafter T-035 or Yamaha FG730. Personally I prefer the Crafter.
Members TESmith
Yamaha, and especially another vote for Crafter! Important thing that is so often stated here is to play as many guitars as possible, and go for the one that jumps out to you , It will cry "take me home"! We all want others to like, appreciate. approve our new purchase But it is you that will be living with your new guitar, not any of us, You are the one that it has to please! We can throw many suggestions to you But we may not have the same tastes as you......Good Luck and have fun with it. As always, we are still going to be oh so willing to shout our opinions if you ask for them further helping to confuse you even more as you try and choose!!! Members EvilTwin
I bought my S6+Folk for $350. Worth every penny. My Guild GAD-25 was on sale for $489, and is quite a guitar, too.

Members Florida_Gator
Yamaha L-series just squeaks in on this one, so I'd have to give those the nod for $500 and under (LL-6, LS-6, and LJ-6). For the under-$400 crowd, here's another vote for the Yamaha FG730/FG735 ($300-$350).
Members Florida_Gator
What Yamaha model is this? See the person on the right...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_Qw2GwRJa8Thanks! Looks like a Yamaha CPX700, like this one: http://www.kraftmusic.com/catalog/guitars/acousticguitars/index.asp?product=6172 But it might be a CPX500, or CPX900. Looks a tad too big to be an APX. Members Galabar
I would check out the Seagull 25th Anniversary Mahogany Spruce. You may be able to get it for $380 from Musician's Friend: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showpost.php?p=32387366&postcount=

Then it may be an APX (which is smaller, and thinner, than the CPX models).
