Members Disco Cat
In fact, it sounds very significantly better than my '57 reissue strat for most all things distortion. I post this because my conscience tells me I shouldn't be able to say that. $450 guitar > $2000 guitar? I bought the Samick probably 10 years ago, and it was my first electric guitar. It's pretty nice looking too, cool paint job. If I had a digi-cam, I'd post pics. wut wut?
Members -Assy-
brand name isnt everything, ive played cheap guitars that rock, and ive played expensive guitars that suck, and vice versa, its all about getting lucky i suppose. Members DaleH
The 57 RI is not built for distortion. It is built to vintage specs and to get vintage tone.

Members seven58
Samick builds and has built for almost all the manufactures. Chances are if your headstock doesn't read Samick... it still is. Good guitars, I have 3. I have an AV3 (Les Paul) with GFS Fat Pats that f'ng rawks. Also, despite that, my 57 ri sounds, imho, better than any other strat I've played or heard - at least clean-wise. The Samick has a characteristically similar tone to how my strat sounded when I put lace sensors pups in it, but I quickly pulled those back out of my 57 in favour of the original clean sound, which I find pretty special. Members cratz2
I have one like DC's, but black/black. I LOVE that neck. Probably one of my four or five favorite necks of all time. I think I have about $125 in it and I doubt I'd sell it for $400 unless I could pre-buy a replacement.
Members Disco Cat
Cool guitars. I just got some pics of mine from a cellphone camera. Taken in the bathroom to exploit the bright lights It has a very nice colour, purplish black, with the wood grain showing.

In either case, enjoy the cheapie. There's nothing better than getting a kickass player for small dollars. For the record: I like the look of your guitar. Its not elaborate or fancy, but its black-on-black give it chutzpah.

Members badpenguin
Welcome to the forum. Alas, those are a dime a dozen, and are worth in the $100-$150 USD range. Made in the early 90's I think.
