Members travisbrowning
I've always loved the acoustic guitar on this song. What makes it sound like that? Sounds kinda slinky? Shorter scale?
Members Mr.Grumpy
Sounds like a fairly straight-ahead acoustic guitar sound to me. The 'slinky' sound I think is the result of some drone notes...sounds like they're playing a 2 or 3 finger chord high up the neck while letting some open strings sound with them. Or maybe it's double tracked.

Probably a standard scale guitar with roundwound strings. Most likely mahogany body. Mic position can help - sounds like they went for the two mic,14th fret / lower bout approach. There's a lot of "boom" there, so avoid the high pass filtering. The slinky sound is just the way some acoustics sound - in fact, it sounds quite a bit like my Taylor 510 in some respects... Members Trick Fall
What Phil said, but Phil could you maybe get some of that double tracking with a Nashville tuned guitar?
Phil O'Keefe
Sure... but I'm not hearing Angel Hair on that particular track.
Members travisbrowning
Round wound strings could be a big part. They always seem to be using 'grand concert' style acoustics too, big body small shoulder type.
