Favorite app for a Beta57?

I have one and it goes on a snare or guitar cab every now and then. Sounds just fine to me. Have used it for vocals in the past and on a didgeridoo where it sounded pretty darn good.

On the snare the cage is better for the drummer to smack than a regular 57. Still rather the 57 if using Shure mics.

I have 6 of them, and I use them primarily on snare and saxes. Not really anything else though. It's usually my first choice on snare. As for horns, I prefer other mics on trumpets and trombones, but B57's are great on saxes and the occasional French horn or other oddball horns.

I'm guilty of taking the grill and capsule off of one with a misplaced shot in 99 I think. Wasn't pretty.

Gross. I would've thought the grille a little tougher than that, freak accident maybe? My ATM-650 has been whacked a few times but it didn't even scuff the paint.

my beta 57 doesnt see much if any use these last couple years.

sounds good on DULL LIFELESS snare, doesnt sound good on normal snare.

sounds good on around 1/3 of female vocals and around 1/8 of tenor male vocals.

doesnt sound good on guitar, mandolin, banjo, accordian, toms, timbales, etc

neat looking but not very usefull to me. i'd trade it for a rode nt1000 or a cad m177 or m179
