Members chris-dax
"I don't actually see how they can keep their cities going" either... California's farms and vineyards could vanish by the end of the century, and its major cities could be in jeopardy, if Americans do not act to slow the advance of global warming, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu said Tuesday. Chu is not a climate scientist. He sees public education as a key part of the administration's strategy to fight global warming -- along with billions of dollars for alternative energy research and infrastructure, a national standard for electricity from renewable sources and cap-and-trade legislation to limit greenhouse gas emissions. Generations before us have screwed the future (us), and we're supposed to make things easier for coming generations. Doesn't sound like such a bargain when you look at it this way, does it? Right, because, as we all know, there isn't any agriculture in Mexico now...

They can't make up their mind which pseudoscience they use to take more money from us. Big quakes are coming. Geology is not pseudoscience. Oil is going to run out. Well, not exactly. Not like someone turns the tap off, and suddenly there's no more oil, but the supply will decline, and demand will continue to increase, and the price will go up until, for many purposes, it might as well be gone. Again, geology is not a pseudoscience. The ice age. Are you talking about that from the 70's? Not exactly a scientific journal. The climate is changing, and the globe is getting warmer. Again, not pseudoscience. But no more agriculture in California? None at all? That's scare tactics, like the popular media articles on the other subjects you mention. Members JeffBass
I have a question. Some "green" scientists are now saying that if the USA completely ELIMINATES man-made greenhouse gases RIGHT NOW, that the effects won't be felt until the year 3000. My question is, what can we do to save California? Can we possibly treat ocean water, which will be increasing because of the warming, and turn it into fresh water? Yes, but it's expensive, and uses a lot of energy.

Members Goofball Jones
and avocados, grapes, oranges, blondes... Yes, +1 on the grapes. Loves California wine. Of course I don't drink much of it anymore since I live right smack in the middle of Michigan wine country and I like supporting the local economy. Very small vineyards here, but pretty decent wine. And it's cool to actually go to the vineyard and buy the wine directly.
