Drummer here, been playing for a while but the more I think about it the more I think my creativity lends itself to giutar. I've got 250 dollars ratholed to start this new chapter in my life.

Need advise on equipment. Easy math dictates that the 4 string ones are cheaper but when I'm playing giutar in my head the sound is somewhere between David Gilmore (the founder and creative force behind heavy metal group Pink Floyd) and Bela Fleck (prominant bleugrass musician).

Hoping to get equipment feedback and advise on string types.

get as many strings as you can for the money. for 250, you should at least be able to get a 7 string, then when you get good enough, you can buy a harp.

Why is it every guitarist out thinks they're a drummer? Seriously, this is like the third guy who's come here starting off with "I'm a guitar player" that I can think of.

this is not my thread but to those who tried to help, good for you.

to failedrummer and the rest that are being rediculous, piss off! this person came in here asking for help.i understand that some of you are as sarcastic as one could be but to just knock this poor innocent {censored}er is obserd.everyone in here needed help at one point or another whether it was being new to music or coming from a different insturment.im somwat new here but some of this {censored} is dumb.

i guess your affraid he might steal a gig from you? i dunno, but you should welcome someone that wants to share the same joy of beating a drum and creating the backbone to just about any song out there.

you tell me whats wrong with wanting to learn more than one thing?

Comes with some high dollar cymbals

a little higher than budget but comes complete.

First set is in Chickasha, which is about an hour SW of Okla City.

and I don't set hats for it.

Second set is in Purcell, Okla. which is 30 mins south of OKC.

Norman is a suburb of OKC, All nice sets for the price.

I'd hit this, and pick up some used hats, and a hi hat stand. The drums won't be great, but they will still be damn good.

Yep...I'd jump all over that one to if I was just starting out. Hell the two K cymbals alone are worth a good chunk of that price. (what the hell though..guy didn't use hi hats????)

They all serious offers considered so that means you could probably walk away with those for 500. If they're still available.

Welcome to drums man!

Nothing wrong with expanding your possibilities. No reason to limit yourself, drums are fun as hell, but so is guitar, why not do both...

I'll give the same advice they said we would.

Buy used, and save money, buy well known name brands, stay away from beginner pre pack cymbals like B8 ZXT ZHT.

When you made up your mind, post it here and we'll keep you from getting ripped off.

Buyers market right now, good deals to be had out there.

I started out with a cheap learning set. I think it cost about 200 or 300 dollars. But I really learned one summer in high school (early 90's). But if you got the budget then go for a good set but learn to play it well.

Remember, that you can't fix cheap cymbals so buy good ones. Cheap drums, on the other hand, you might be able to fix though difficult.

And FD has a point: pretty much every guitarist I've ever met thinks that they can play drums better than the drummer in their band. I wouldn't say it holds too much weight in this thread, however; the guy actually wants to buy a nice kit for his money.
