I was having a problem with always looking down when i was playing and the reflection reminded me to always look out at 'the crowd' and interact with them. Exactly what I tell my beginning students. Without the mirror, from the vantage point of where you're sitting when playing, one can't tell if there is incorrect arm movement up and down. I know that that style of music calls for the pseudo crashing ride stuff, but different angles on attack with the arm can prove to be a more musical approach.
