We have weekly fundraisers at school every February of the Governors Food Drive. Last Friday, the teachers did a spaghetti feed, and it was awesome, for a whopping $3 a plate for all the pasts, sauce, garlic bread and salad you could eat.
Monday, the security staff (I teach in a residential youth corrections facility) did pulled pork. It tasted like they just roasted the pork without seasoning it, then served it on a squishy white bun and a dollop of bottled sauce added as an afterthought.
Mrs. Thumper just happened to make pulled pork Monday, and she does it right. She rubs pork shoulder with a dry-rub, then slow-cooks it in the crock-pot for 12 hours until the meat is sliding off the bone.
Then she gently teases the pig meat apart into tasty morsels, slathers it in home-made sauce, and lets the pulled pork gently simmer for a couple more hours.
Dang, I'm feelin' the need for some of Mrs. T's sweet slow-cooked shredded goodness right now...
Gotta stop now. This is beginning to sound like the soundtrack to a bad pr0n flick....
