  1. A stale reference to a discussion from months ago, completely and totally unrelated to either the topic of this thread or to my comment, and a discussion in which you maintained a position despite multiple people pointing out issues with your claim (and thus something that belies the very point you're trying to make, i.e., that you do indeed seek serious discussion). Interesting that my reference is stale, yet you keep reminding people no only on HCBF, but also that other place. In a few days the newly elected President takes office, Zelaya and the current Prez, Micheletti, will receive amnesty and at best for you the General and a few other military buddies in charge of flying Zelaya out of the country will receive a slap on the wrist. Sounds like a lot of unconstitutionalisms going on down there.
  2. How about you post the remainder of that quote?Probably because quoting too much of it is violates intellectual copyrights. At least there's a famous mod on this forum who inspires for us not to do it.
  3. And we have now gone around the bend. Goodnight, ladies and gentlemen.Okay
  4. What part of when it comes to political spending was unclear? But that's the part that drove the SCOTUS decision. Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the main opinion, which reads in part that there is "no basis for allowing the government to limit corporate independent expenditures." " There is no basis for the proposition that, in the political speech context, the government may impose restrictions on certain disfavored speakers," he wrote. "The government may regulate corporate speech through disclaimer and disclosure requirements, but it may not suppress that speech altogether." Dissenters included Justices John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor. "The notion that the First Amendment dictated [today's ruling] is, in my judgment, profoundly misguided," Stevens wrote for the others. "In the context of election to public office, the distinction between corporate and human speakers is significant. Although they make enormous contributions to our society, corporations are not actually members of it," he added. This is laughable. If they aren't members of our society, why do they get taxed? In a simplistic sense taxation without representation started a revolution.
  5. I agree with this decision. I was in favor of McCain Feingold at first, but after doing some research and reading more educated opinions I changed my mind. The SCOTUS made the right call. Now Chuck Schumer is calling for a hearing on this "Un-American" SCOTUS decision. He must think this is a decision that will favor the Republicans? I'm not sure why else he would say something so stupid. Also, the posts underneath the article you linked are very funny.
  6. Not true. Yes its been that way for a long time but it was not always so. The Supremes granted corporations the legal status of "individual", among other rights, in the early 1800s (1819 I think). Thanks for the clarification.
  7. Oh, were you expecting me to take you seriously? Fool me once, shame on me...Fool me forty seven times...uh, won't get fooled again. Why don't you go post a youtube there, Thrustmaker. You should go spend some time reading up on Honduras, Prince Peanuts.
  8. It's troubling to me that the Court feels that corporations and similar entities should enjoy the same status as individuals when it comes to political spending. This has the potential (IMO) to turn political races into contests of who can get the most corporate support, completely shutting out the voices of the electorate. In short, he with the most money wins, and corporations can now be legally regarded as "he." Corporations have always been a legal "person." Why would they not be regarded in that way?
  9. Different candidates. We also won't be voting for president either, so that's a big difference. And you were blaming Kindness for the current poor state of HCBF.
  10. That McCain-Feingold will no longer restrict 1st amendment rights. Thanks. What do you expect to see different in the fall elections from the 2008 cycle?
  11. They sided with the makers of "Hillary: The Movie." In a stunning reversal of the nation's federal campaign finance laws, the Supreme Court ruled Thursday that as an exercise of free speech, corporations, labor unions and other groups can directly spend on political campaigns. This is just in time for the elections in the fall. What ramifications do you think this will have?
  12. {censored}ing circle jerk. That's quite convenient, yet any number of threads could be linked here where KK and I have went round and round ad nauseum in complete disagreement. That's just for starters. Same with Zachoff, PG, etc.
  13. That's a bit harsh, isn't it? Everyone comes up with ideas for a reason, but sometimes it takes time to digest opposing evidence. How do you feel about "scientists" who stick with old theories that have been proven wrong or there is an overwhelming preponderance of evidence that indicates their position is false?
  14. Just so everyone remembers that wades_keys and his hyperbolic, unsupported statements about gun shows and gun ownership get pwned on a regular basis. This is a post from a previous thread where an actual gun dealer pointed out the flaws of his arguments. Here's just one- .....Pawn shops and gun shows are under the SAME laws as any gun dealer. They have to have an FFL and are required to do everything a traditional gun dealer would do. They just run it out of a different sort of store, but everything else is the same. I sell guns and ammo for a living........

  18. I feel the Yub luv around here.
  19. What I said was "guilty of similar nonsense". I've shown how that is true. If either of you think it's worth that much effort, have at it, I'm not stopping you. I'm not running away from my statement in the least, if you don't think it's true, you haven't been listening to your party's windbags much over the last 20 years. What Republican starlets/stars that make a living in Hollywood have said anything comparable? It's really irrelevant as to whether I believe it's true or not. What matters is you haven't provided any evidence whatsoever other than pointing the finger at unnamed windbags. It's not my job or Craigv's job to find your evidence for you.
  20. I'd have to go looking for it, but I'm quite certain I hear that threat used "if Gore / Kerry wins". I honestly can't be bothered to look right now, you're so interested, why don't you? I'm quite sure I can find a whole metric {censored}ton of the other "you don't agree with us, so you have to move" variant.Craigv didn't make the claim. You did.
