  1. I think the 80s are back. Big hair, spandex and neon green can't be far behind...
  2. Yeah, I have a buddy who buys all these guitars, then loses interest right away and flips em for a profit. Difference is, th e OP's friend sells them at a LOSS. I agree it sounds like a pathology, and something for which he should seek help (before his wife and kids are out the door...)
  3. Sale to CBS In early 1965, Leo Fender sold his companies to the Columbia Broadcasting System, or CBS for $13 million. But, since you are a mod -- carry on!
  4. I want one of these for the neck of my MIM standard tele: And perhaps a set of these for my Route 101 Solimar Custom:
  5. It wouldn't be as hideous, except the headstock makes it look terribly unbalanced to my eyes. IMO, they should have reversed the headstock...
  6. It could be yours, you know... My wife just bought a new Kirby vacuum cleaner (somewhere north of $1k) so I somehow don't think I'll be doing that just now! Also, being north of 50, I somehow don't I could quite pull off wearing an Explorer.
  7. Why am I crazy? Because that's an incredibly beautiful guitar!!!
  8. I saw the post in the "spam" thread, and I think you're crazy!!!
  9. ...not sure why it took them 4 days to ship my order (I know....I know...I'm never happy...), but at least it's on the way. Every one of the CSR's dry-humped it before they slipped it into the case, to make up for your demanding 20% off!
  10. Let's face it: All things guitar-related jumped the shark decades ago -- at least since turntables became accepted as musical instruments. We're all just relics of a simpler, gentler time...
  11. I picked a tele, but it's not a strong selection. I do prefer teles to strats, but interestingly, in over 40 years of playing I've only played one LP extensively (an early 70s LP Deluxe), so I'd have to get more experience with them before I can really give a definitive answer.
  12. You can get a great guitar from either Fenders Corona or its Ensenada factory. Yeah, the overall finish might be nicer on the US teles, but take an MIM standard, pay
  13. Nearly new Vox AC4TV, the model with the 10-inch speaker that sells for $250 new. I've been going back and forth on this, but I'd like to sell it to fund another purchase. How much???
  14. Hey Mazi -- with the title of this thread, I'll be terribly disappointed if at some point someone doesn't post a Peavey Wolfgang...
  15. I used to rock and roll all night and party ev-er-y day. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find half an hour a week in which to get funky.
  16. Sensitive bunch, those texans, eh?
  17. Well, most of you have probably seen this before, but here's my Go Guitars Go-Walnut Grande. It's a bit of a special order job, w/figured spruce, Walnut and Ebony bridge and fingerboard (as opposed to the standard rosewood). I'm thinking very seriously now of getting one of his (Sam Radding's) parlors for my next guitar:
  18. After seven years of hangin' around HC, I finally think I'm ready to kick ass and rock hard -- Sign me up!!!
  19. FWIW, I have had top-shelf electrics (a Fender 95 Am Std tele, 76 Custom Tele, 60-something Gibson LP jr). However, these days, with kids to send to college and a myriad of other expenses I have had to sell off all of my more expensive guitars. Right now, all of my electrics with one exception ($450 Gretsch Electromatic) cost less than $250 each (in most cases much less). So I do have some perspective. I can say that for folks like me (who either don't or only very occasionally play out) the cheaper guitars currently available (as well as some under-appreciated older models such as my Peavey T-30 - $150) do the job just fine with some minor annoyances. These are mostly related to cheaper pots and switches. In my experience, the really evident difference in quality is contained mostly in the electronics. These days, you can get a guitar that feels and plays just great for very little money. You just may have to get to know and love your soldering iron...
  20. you were being one I simply stated it, sorry it was quite juvenile of me would you like it removed? Well, two things: First, when I said I couldn't afford one, I was responding to derf, not you. As I frequently tell my kids: "It's not always about you". OTOH, I plead guilty to frequently being an a-hole, so you may leave the post!
  21. check the sig a-hole, I own one already and could sell some of the others I have for more if I wanted to. Why the name-calling, asshat! :poke:
