Members _pete_
I always thought Jon Anderson's lyrics were written more for the sound and cadence of the words. Not the actual meaning.

Members Elias Graves
Well, there you go. Yes lyrics must be viewed as though you are looking at an impressionist painting. When you stand back and look at the totality of the lyrics, they will make a general impression of the mood and story they are trying to impart. Look too closely and all those brush strokes don't make much sense on their own. Listen to the whole song and tell me what it means. One line from a Yes song isn't enough to tell anything. Members Elias Graves
Those lyrics have meant many things to me over the years depending on my frame of mind. "Close To The Edge" is one of those that can take a lot of different angles. Just go with it, man. Quit thinking about it and just get there.
