Members Doctor Morbius
I love that style of guitar playing! So clean, it's all about melody and phrasing. Agree 100%. Pure skill.
Members dimmypage
Hanging with grandpa and grandma watching the Welk show. Good times. Ahh yes:thu:
Members jerry_picker
Topnotch players yes. But absolute godawful dreck 99% of the time. Sorry, but on the whole the thing sucked sucked sucked. Lowest common denominator pap in soulless whitebread arrangements. I'm hoping no one celebrating it actually lived through it. What a waste of talent. Maybe so... ...but for the members of the "family" it was also a regular paycheck, their names on recordings and faces on TV, and international recognition while making a living primarily as musicians (even if it was cult-like in its wholesomeness). Members waxbytes
When I was a child Mom would watch Lawrence Welk regularly. I hated it, old fuddy duddy music. Accordians and bubbles. Polkas. Even when I was young those big fake smiles bothered me. Everyone smiled. Freaky.
Members Kid Klash
My roots. And I admit it.Me too. If it hadn't been for these two guys and the Ventures, I'd have probably kept playing trumpet!
Members caveman
I started guitar in 53 and the LW Show was a staple of my early musical development. 50 some years down the road I'm still putting what I learned about arrangement and vocal harmony to good use. Hats off to Larry and whole family.
