Members mr benn
howdy folks looking for suggestions of a nice pair of clean humbuckers for a partscaser tele it'll be a clean/rhythm machine mostly used for arpeggios & loops with a bit of fuzz abuse too I don't want to spend a fortune as it's only a parts guitar so far i was thinking of maybe a set of BG lizzards? Members cratz2
For cheap, the GFS Alnico IIs are the lowest output HBs I've ever owned. They are definitely a step down in output compared to 57 Classics or Seth Lovers which are both low-ish output.
Members jamdogg
bozbanks has made '57 classics cheap enough for almost anyone.
Members The Riffer
Don't know if it's cheap enough, but I think a BB1 in a tele would be tits.
Members blingdogg
I have a set of Alnico II Classics by Tonerider that are very, very nice. They're a low-output set and I find them versatile, with a sweet tone. http://www.tonerider.com/pickups/humbuckers.html I think they were only about $100 or so. Members cratz2
Sorry Bryan... didn't mean to lead the OP astray. I didn't see that he had mentioned BGs in the initial post.I haven't heard any of Bryan's humbuckers, but his single coils and his HB-sized Pure 90s are very fine pickups. Members PanaDP
A humbucker wound to vintage single coil type resistance would be pretty cool. Bryan, you ever wind a humbucker to a resistance like 5 or 5.5K? I bet it'd be pretty nice.

Members PanaDP
Not that low. But I've done a few 6.5k ones for tele necks. I doubt it would be a big seller but it might be cool to try. I'd love to try a pair in a strat and see what they behave like.
Members go cat go
I got a set of BG Puffs. Great and extremely versatile pups. I also have a a set of Air Classics in this beast which are not going anywhere. The Puffs feel like they have more kick to them then the classics but they're extremely responsive to volume and tone control changes.
Members EllenGtrGrl
Don't forget Filtertrons. The typical filtertron only has about 4.5 to 5 k ohms of DC resistance.
