Members Tidal Rhythm
I just read that on the Dire Straits guitar track for Money for Nothin', Knopfler played a LP Jr through a Laney amp. What are some other well known songs in which the guitarist used a guitar different from the one he/she was known for?
Members SaSa
I just read that on the Dire Straits guitar track for Money for Nothin', Knopfler played a LP Jr through a Laney amp. What are some other well known songs in which the guitarist used a guitar different from the one he/she was known for? The story about Money for Nothing is that Knopfler phoned Billy Gibbons to ask how to get that ZZ Top tone. Which brings us to another item for your list: La Grange by ZZ Top, the solos were played with an all-stock 50s Strat. Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2 by Pink Floyd (played on a Les Paul)

Members Coda_
...Jimmy Page used a Tele on the Stairway to Heaven solo, albeit, it was the Dragon Tele, which you could argue is a signature guitar...he also used a Bbender Tele on live versions of Ten Years Gone...Hendrix recorded Fire on a Jazzmaster... Members rockstrongo
It's still a Strat-like guitar, but SRV recorded Texas Flood with a Tokai copy supposedly.
Members bryvincent
Tony Iommi used a Strat on Black Sabbath's "Wicked World". that strat was tony's main guitar but the pups died IIRC after they recorded that song, so tony used his back-up guitar-an SG for the rest of the album and the rest is history. Michael Schenker used a Les Paul on Scorpions' first album
