Anyway of confirming if that is the original body but with a respray or if Fender did make a limited run of this??
Members bsman
I'm not sure why anyone would try to fake one of those. IIRC, they were assembled in Mexico from US necks and bodies w/MIM electronics -- I could be wrong here. Sort of similar (in some ways, I suppose) to the current HWY 1 series -- something a bit cheaper than the US standards, but with similar parts. Members metalheadUK
The California series started with parts milled in the US, parts sent to Mexico for painting /finishing, sent back to the US for assembly. Hardware is all US vintage type, pickups are Tex Mex. Absolutely fantastic guitars.
Members Mister Crow
My guess would be Neck-Yes, Body-No.
Members harold heckuba
It is not real, all the bodies on the California series were painted normal colors. There were no wood grain or see-thru finishes.
Members Ramblin
The body is changed.. and the bridge is not a Fender one.. It should have a vintage-type bridge.
Members linusâ„¢
GFS was selling bodies that looked an awful lot like that... http://store.guitarfetish.com/ststbohshlip4.html it really bothers me that the first thing the auction states is: Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing. Members Wyatt
I agree, not a California Series body or bridge. guessing someone added a California Series neck to a partscaster.
