Members Deadm1r
I've been GASing for a Epi Casino for a while now but have never been able to pick up one that has really "Spoken" to me. So I'd like your help! Please recommend me a good semi hollow with p90's that can be had for under 800 bucks! Thanks in advance guys! If there's any other semi hollows out there that you really like then feel free to post them too! Thanks in advance
Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted June 20, 2011 Moderators Share Posted June 20, 2011 Epi Casino ....and yes I did read your whole post;) You could try the Epi ES295, although can be difficult to find, or the 3 pickup Riviera [video=youtube;x6V3YH2lHuE]

Members Tweedledee
The Epiphone Casino is actually not a semi-hollow. It has a fully hollow body without a center block. As far as inexpensive semi-hollows are concerned, there's the Xaviere XV-910. I'm not in love with the headstock, but the few people around here who have of them seem to have good things to say. I believe forumite Minnie the Moocher has one and has made a few killer videos of it in action, IIRC. Here's a link to the guitar: http://www.guitarfetish.com/XV-910-Semi-Hollowbody-Alnico-P90-Dogears-Trapeze-Tailpiece_c_186.html I used to own an Agile Harm 1 that was a great guitar. Somewhat untraditional styling, but I like the look. http://www.rondomusic.com/harm1semisb.html http://www.rondomusic.com/harm1whitep90.html Here's the one I used to own: If you can find one, the Yamaha SA503 TVL is a killer semi-hollow with three P90s. Here's the one I had: Are you set on the basic 335 style body shape? There are several options for semi-hollows with smaller bodies and other body shapes. Members Deadm1r
What has it been that didn't quite reach your ears? Maybe I've just played bad ones, but they sounded bad to me, maybe the pickups were bad?
Members w00dsy
these Xavieres are pretty cool, and the pickups are quite nice. I got my son one and it's great value at $
Members theManfromAlabam
Tweedledee that floor rules! I got a non elitist Epi Nick Valensi Riviera for under $700 from MF, I wanted to try one out, but couldn't find one at any of the local shops, so I ordered one thinking I will probably return it, after setting it up I decided it was a keeper...I really enjoy this guitar. Good luck
Members photon9
If u don't like the sound of the casino it's possible you aren't a P90 guy. If you don't like the standard build quality, try some of their higher level models. The Elitist Casino is an impressively, almost perfectly built instrument. Members Special J
You can find these used for around $800 from time to time. I bought the mahogany version for $650 off ebay.
Members Sic666
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/godin-5th-avenue-cw-kingpin-ii-archtop-electric-guitar If I was looking for a semi-hollow for less that $1k I'll get one of these. I have never played one but other godin guitars that I have tested have always been great. I know it's not under $800 but maybe if you could get it used or in ebay you might get it less than $800 oh and it comes with an awesome case. Members Tweedledee
I've actually been looking for that one (I fucking love QOTSA) but no luck Where did you get yours? I bought it from Musicians Friend a few years ago when they blew them out for $500. It was a fantastic guitar and a tone monster. I probably should have kept it. They definitely are hard to find now. I figured I would see more of them on eBay, but they rarely seem to pop up there.
