Members Ancient Mariner
I bought some DR Black Beauty strings just a few weeks ago, and the coating has already worn through around the pick area, especially on the wound strings, after no more than about 6 hours playing. I use a 0.73mm (medium-soft) nylon pick, and although I play quite hard, the flexibility of the pick absorbs a lot of it. Has anyone else had this problem? This rate of wear seems much quicker than I'd have expected.

Members madrigal77
All coated strings do that for me. The only ones that didn't were the D'addario. But those retain the new string tone a bit longer, and then make up for it by losing tone super fast once they start to go.
