Members Crunchtime
I got the idea for this post after see the sweet N4 that yngzaklynch just got. Here is my Washburn NX6 with S. E. Cutaway. http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/02/04/48a9768db337.jpg http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/d6/b9/e9626bd67e22.jpg http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/f7/e8/0725f648827a.jpg http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/82/ea/827c439890a4.jpg http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/3d/dd/2c6eca1fea9e.jpg http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/50/a4/293de35fc9a3.jpg http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/50/a4/293de35fc9a3.jpg http://www.axcessmypics.com/photos/photo02/57/ab/1bdf894b54aa.jpg This may not look like an NX6 because of the pu configuration. According to the Washburn custom shop it is a one-off NX6. The pickups are Dimarzio. Fast Track 2 in the bridge and Pro Tracks in the mid and neck. As you can see the body is maple. Theese US Washburns are great guitars. Worth checking out.
Members Seano Porno
Are those on ANY other guitars but the Nuno series Washboards? I've never heard of them on owt else! Feel a bit strange at first they do...cool idea tho!
Members Crunchtime
Actually this is not a Nuno guitar. It is a NX6. They usually have 2 humbuckers. Jon Donais of Shadows Fall used one before going to ESP. I also believe all of the Nunos have Floyds but I could be wrong.
Members Coverdale
I have a Davies N4 (made by Stephen Davies in 1991) and also this LS103 Custom Shop - probably a custom order or prototype
Members Crunchtime
I'm not too sharp when it comes to computers. I wish I knew how to put a photo in a thread instead of pasting links. Anyways, that is a sweet guitar Coverdale. I've never heard of a Davies. Members Coverdale
These photos are crap, that guitar looks much better in person. It's a Washburn too. When I say Davies - they're Washburns but the early ones made by Stephen Davies are refered by that name. Much better than most of later N4's I've tried. Members Axeslinger
The N6 wasn't around long.. It had a back bow in the neck that couldn't be fixed.. All in All,, The N4s are excellent instruments!!

Members yngzaklynch
This one according to my sales rep is one of only 12 made with this finish. Less than half of this are 1 piece bodies. This is one of the few.
Members ubernerd
I think the Stephen's Extended Cutaway originally came on these: http://us.st12.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/guitarshopnet_2023_91753301

Members Crunchtime
Sorry for dragging up this thread, I was just learning how to post a pic in a reply instead of a link. The previous post was just a test.
Members stormin1155
Stephen Davies also designed an extended cutaway acoustic for Washburn. I think they were produced for two or three years back in the '80's. They had a D-60 model which had a spruce top and laminated sides/back and a D-80 (which is what I have) with a cedar top and solid rosewood back/sides. Cool concept, and the guitar sounds great, but the design is really quite frail, and most of the guitars ended up with some sort of problem. Members Clean Channel
Don't forget about the ec-29 and ec-36, both had the extended cutaway to help reach the highest frets (29 and 36 fret guitars). You can google for images...

Members Clean Channel
Hi all, Thought you might get a kick out of seeing my Stephen's Extended Cutaway Telecaster. It was made at the Stephen's Shop in Seattle in 1996. I also have a Washburn EC29 that I absolutely love. Hope more people upload pics in the future, I love seeing all of the different SEC guitars out there.

Members danhan1113
I don't really like the way that neck heel feels. I am just so used to traditional bolt on heels that the washburns feel weird.
Members Xenoanthropus
I used to have this same guitar. It had fantastic tone. I regretted trading it and looked for a replacement for years to no avail. Really hard to find. I remember hearing most of them became casualties of poor design. Members Clean Channel
Here are a couple shots of my three Stephen's Extended Cutaway guitars. I recently scored the acoustic, so thought I would update with some new pics. All three guitars sound great and are incredibly fun to play! From left to right: -Stephen's Model T (built at the Stephen Davies shop in Seattle in the 90s) -Washburn DC60E (an acoustic with 24 frets) -Washburn EC29 (an electric with 29 frets)
Members BA.Barcolounger
I had one of these for like 3 weeks in the early nineties. It sucked.
Members Clean Channel
Just to avoid any confusion, the guitar pictured above isn't a Stephen's Extended Cutaway guitar. The beauty of the Stephens Cutaway is that there is no heel, providing free access to the high frets. Despite the ridiculous cutaway, the guitar above still has a 4-bolt heel supporting it at the 15th fret. I'm sure the SEC provides much better upper fret access.
