Members GCDEF
David Gilmour has to pretty much own this thread. Dogs is another great solo of his. Here's Roger Waters' band covering it really well.
Members Coralkong
Steve Vai- "Frank" (could make the argument for "For the Love of God", too.) If you've never heard the song "Frank", I highly suggest you check it out. Might change your opinion of Vai. How about "The Journey" by Satriani? Members iamjethro
Can't link video from here. These Are The Days Of Our Lives - Queen - from the Innuendo cd. Pretty and touching if you watch the video, one of Freddie's last, as you listen to the lyrics.

Members DaveAronow
Be-Bop Deluxe It'd difficult to find the best of the album Axe Victim, but it contains some of the most gorgeous of Bill Nelson's work Here's one: CjiArdooBi4 Ive never heard this. I really like it. Love the keyboard player too. The whole thing has a similar vibe to what Framton was doing in his heyday.
Members crashclc
Pretty much anything by David Gilmour for the win. Comfortably numb is my all time favorite, but he has such amazing tone, taste and timing that almost anything he does sounds awesome.

I also agree with one of the other posters who said you could dedicate an entire thread to David Gilmour .

Members Riggins
of course it's just my opinion, but Jake had some of the best solo phrasing out there. And this solo just summed it up for me. starts about 2:14 if you just want to hear the solo.

Members EddiePie
Thin Lizzy - "Still in Love With You" from Live and Dangerous. This is another version of it. Also, +1 to Elvin Bishop's "Fooled Around and Fell in Love," especially the full album version solo. Great stuff! Members guitarman3001
I'm not really a fan of his technique, but Slash has some memorable rock solos, eventho he doesn't get out of that comfort zone. I think it's that comfort zone that makes him as great as he is and gives him a unique style. His phrasing and timing and ability to create tension and release is amazing. I'd rather see him do that one thing well than be all over the place and try to play different things that he may not be as good at.
Members paulojcduarte
If you count the theme as a solo I'd add this one, it blew my mind.
