Members captain insane-o
hi guys...looking for some drum trinkets for the wife. Is the groove wedge worth it? I mean it looks like basically a cross-sticking aid...(she uses one of those chad smith snares) I suppose my big question is - is it really that "woody"? does it offer much of a woodblocky/clave sound -- I mean enough to warrant using it? I know it's a bit of a qualitative question
Members race81
depends on where she plays......they are really loud, and can add almost twice the volume of just a normal crosstick....like most answers about music.....it depends.......on venue, genre, player, stick,.....most of the time ive seen them used is for live applications where the stage is huge. Some snares also dont cross stick well with much volume, so this could be helpful on such snares......myself have never bought one because the need doesnt justify the price. Just my 2 cents worth......
Members FitchFY
Ditto to the above. The Groove Wedge helps nail a big loud cross stick to cut more than your normal one, but most drummers don't play a cross stick requiring a loud volume... but hey, I'd screw around with one if I had one.
