Members Shadowdusk
I've been resting my voice for over a week now, and it keeps hurting worse, is this too long for a sore throat? I can't remember it ever lasted this long before. I drink tons of tea, dress warmly and rest but it seems to get randomly worse at times. Is this too long for a normal sore throat? Right now it hurts when I swallow.
Members DukeOfBoom
you're addressing the symptoms not the cause, silly.
Members ido1957
Sounds like an infection. See the doctor.

Members smorgdonkey
You will likely be given the same antibiotic that is prescribed for strep throat even if it is determined that you don't have it. The pain will be gone by the 3 rd day that you are on the medication but you should finish the entire cycle of them.
Members grace_slick
If it hurts to talk, it could be strain (extreme though, which I doubt is the case, especially after a week of rest) or infection. If it hurts to swallow (and/or talk and/or breathe - air passing the throat, etc), it's an infection.
Members YeahDoIt
Maybe gargling with Listerine might help. Listerine kills many kinds of germs.
Members billybilly
Make a very strong tea with Thyme, Sage and Licorice, very strong. Gargle 5X a day. You can swallow it but I spit it out. An old opera singer taught me this. Thyme and Sage kill germs and Licorice sooths mucous membranes.

Hopefully its not serious but you more than likely have an infection which could have been caused from a tooth infection...(happened to me) Except for me it was the worst pain every imaginable. Allergies, lymph nodes get swollen, can make your gums hurt you could have a mouth ulcer... See Dr.Feelgood. An ENT comes to mind (ear nose throat)
