Members Guitin Better
I'm getting ready to buy a new bass and a sunburst model has caught my eye. Are sunburst guitars outdated now??

Members Bassopotamus
Sunburst never goes out of style. They've been around since the turn of the last century or before. Interestingly, I read somewhere (maybe VG) that they were kind of the first relic. The color was supposed to suggest wear patterns on violins. Members Narcosynthesis
I think sunburst is one of the styles that can never really be out of fashion, its been around from virtually the beginning of the electric bass and is still as popular as ever now, hell I wouldn't own a sunburst bass if I thought they didn't look as good as other finishes... so a big thumbs up from me at least currently wandering what my jazz bass would look like with a black pickguard - I saw a p bass like that that looked fantastic and am tempted to try and see how it would suit the jazz (I got as far as preferring the white over tortioseshell) David
