Members sunburstbasser
I prefer the Dr. Q to the Bassballs, myself. Much cheaper, and more of a Bootsy-type sound.
Members chubrocker
I got the Digitech to sell for cheap. Thought I'd use it, but really don't. PM if interested.

I've played in a band that called for two basses at once, but it only for one song. I guess it's doable.
Members LO_RYDER
If you want the bootsy sound you need the Mutron III. He is pushing something now called a Ultron by Guyatone. I havn't heard it in action but thats the deal.

Similar to a Dr. Q, albeit with far more control of the parameters.

Members gretschzildjian
So the Mutron III is the same as the EH q-tron? Not really. They're both envelope filters alright, but have pretty different characteristics soundwise. I use the EHX Q-tron myself and love it...it's got this dirty edge which other envelope filters I tried didn't have. However, if I was swimming in cash and could get my hands on one, I'd get a Mutron III for sure...
