Members OraarO
I have a 1976 P-Bass that I have owned for about 8 years. The finish is cracking and discoloring slightly and looks quite nice, but I think that their may be two finishes on it? The bass has a natural finish with no color, but where the laquer? is rubbed through, there is a second, not-as-shiny layer still left on top of the wood. Is this normal, or if a finish wears off, should it expose the wood directly? I can post pictures if it helps... Thanks, just curious. Members elmohoof
Fender puts a coat of polyeyrthane on their basses. You need to sand it off or use something like "zip strip" on it to get it off. you might have to do this a couple times
Members Narcosynthesis
That looks like I would expect I think there is usually a base coat of somethign put on before the laquer, something to fill in the grain and even it out or to add the basic colour before the clearcoat David
