Burdizzos and I are going to pretty much tear it up, so if you want to be a part of that, come out. I'm likely going to make a gigantic ass of myself in public several times, that alone is worth the price of admission IMO, I'm pretty good at it.
:D

That alone is worth the trip!:D

I'm still on the "I should be there" list. I won't know my March room offers for another month or so, though. Ultimately if I get the comped rooms I should be getting, I'm game.

I just got a flyer from Bally's inviting me out from December 16th - 20th fully comped rooms, with $50 towards my flight too. I hate to fly out in December and then again in March, but damn that's enticing.

Side trip to the canyon? To me, that's pretty much the only reason to go to Vegas - cheap flights subsidized by the casino industry then rent a car to go see something worth seeing (Vegas just doesn't do it for me).

Bryce Canyon and Zion > Grand Canyon. :D

I'm definitely down with this, though depending on teaching schedule, I might only be able to do Sat & Sun, or Fri-Sun (I'm currently interviewing for a near full time position).

Several things I can "bring to the party":

-I'll be driving up from Los Angeles, any other Los Angelinos who want to car pool are welcome to come with me. (Note above, I may not be able to make all days).

-I am definitely going to do a side trip to Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks. They're about a four hour drive and are two of the most beautiful places on the planet. I have an Annual National Parks pass, so I can take a car full of people for free. "Carfull" for my Jeep is Me + 4, unless people want to ride in the cargo area (I've off-roaded with 13 people in a Grand Cherokee, so I'm not joking here :D)

On the flip side, if anyone wants to share a room, I'd be down for that. All I ask is that we get separate beds and no one tries to buttsecks me while I'm sleeping...

Anyone interested in going who hasn't booked yet -- how are the rates looking? All of a sudden my comp days are showing up at $160 or so per night. Did they go up for everyone or did I piss the Flamingo off at some point?
:)

I still haven't booked, right now I'm being show $250-320/night for that weekend instead of $160.

That could definitely affect my willingness to go :(

Wow. That's crazy. I hope they don't stay that way. Could be because of March Madness.

1st and 2nd rounds are the 20th and 22nd... that would indeed explain some of it.

Even if Flamingo stays expensive there are plenty of other options. Four Queens downtown is $72 weeknights and $112 weekends during that time. Casino Royale is on the Strip, $85.67 per night average over the 20th through 26th (the dates Burdizzos is scheduled for and that I'm planning on going for)... if you just wanted that Friday and Saturday night it's $99 per night there, and Casino Royale is two buildings down from Flamingo (past Imperial Palace and Harrahs).

Well, I did some searching around (Kayak.com pwns joo! :D) and found the The Westin Casuarina Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa has rooms starting at $157 a night (including all the taxes and fees).

The Westin is on Flamingo Road, just off the strip about 1000ft from the Flamingo (Across from Bally's). Since I'm a Starwood preferred guest anyhoo, I made my reservation there. :D

So I'm definitely going to be there (barring unforseen consequences), I've got a room at the Westin (mmm, Heavenly Bed) for Friday and Saturday nights, two double beds atm.

So, Los Angelinos, I'll be driving up on Friday (not sure when) and driving back Sunday afternoon. If anyone wants to carpool, let me know. And if anyone wants to share a room (not just LA folks, anyone) let me know.

And I'm still planning that Daytrip to Bryce and Zion, which folks can do with me for free, since I have an annual Natl. Park pass (split cost on gas, but that should be nothing much).
