Members guitargod0dmw
My favorite bass line of his is the one in Orange Crush...it's so simple, yet so cool!
Members Renfield
My favorite bass line of his is the one in Orange Crush...it's so simple, yet so cool! I agree. He's a very overlooked player, yet he really holds it down great and always has the right tone for the song. I'd like to name "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?" as my fav from him. Such a great line, just a hint of dirt in his tone, great line.

Members tom_s252
And don't forget the backing vocals! The opening track of Accelerate, "Living Well is the Best Revenge", has some gorgeous BVs. I'm impressed with this album, I have to say.
Members Les_Izzmor
I always liked what he did. I think I once described his playing as "tasty".
Members jasper383
Didn't he say he always asks, "What would John Mcvie play?" before he works up a bassline? Anyone who does that is on the right track, imo.

Members Thumper
Mills is an under-rated player, and a big influence for me.
Members Kakona
So. Central Rain (I'm Sorry) is my favorite by Mike. I first saw REM on Letterman back in 1983, a clip of which I just found on YouTube! Sit back, relax and enjoy all the Rickenbackerful jangly goodness! Oh, um, by the way (ahem) did I mention I also MET Mike once, backstage after a show in Las Cruces in 1987? Yes. Yes, I did. Not to be a name dropper or anything, I hate people like that, I'm just sayin, since this thread is ABOUT Mike, it might be germane to mention that I practically know the man. Sure, we lost touch after that visit, but still...
Members Muddslide
He's one of the finest pop bassists around. I'm not a big REM fan since after their Lifes Rich Pageant era, but he's always, in his words, "tasty." He is great on backing vox too.
