I have Mike's original Eidas prototype (4 string bolt on). I'll keep an eye on that auction, it's tempting...
Members J.
the dudes crazy asking that kind of coin..... no way it sells at that price. But he says right in the auction: "Starting bid is about half what I paid for it!! Buy-It-Now price is VERY reasonable!!" This is probably a case of where price does not necessarily equal quality. A lot of custom basses from small, relatively unknown luthiers have terrible resale value even though they might be built incredibly well. If it had a popular name like Sadowsky attached to it, you can bet it would command top dollar, even though the quality might not be any better (not a knock against Sadowsky in any way). Goes to show that if you buy a custom bass, you need to know that there is a risk level that needs to be accepted, as well as the fact that you are spending money that you will never be able to get back. I am convinced that the right builder and the right design is the best way to get a truly special bass, but it is not guaranteed to be a success no matter what. If you can handle the risk, the unknowns, and can afford to spend and be out of the money it's a great thing and a super rewarding process to go through. It's not for everyone though... Members J.
Well, it ended with zero bids as expected. The seller, unfortunately, is probably going to have to take a big hit on this bass if he wants to move it.
Members birdboy7007
I was sorely, sorely tempted. But it just wasn't meant to be at that price right now.
