Members LarryNJ
Actually, Power, Pre, & Cab: WarwickHELLBORG MONOPOWER 500JCH PreAmpClub Cab- 15" Coaxial Celestion Those lights behind it are from a Furman Power Factor PROportable (non-rack mount) Power Conditioner, which is highly recommended for ANY rig, not just one like this. Which sounds very good btw.

Members LarryNJ
Where do you get all the money to buy new gear? Isn't that Hellborg gear pretty pricey? You are Kewl, so I'll explain a little somethin'- somethin' Yep, Hellborg does not come cheap, but refer to "RealDeal" (thas me) in the Warwick Forum, a nice place, btw- for an explanation of cost vs. value. Ive wanted the System since it was intro'd; then I played thru at Winter NAMM-- It's awesome, you can read my review. Best bass system made. IMO To answer your question: I work (2) jobs- One, in the MI (musical instrument) Industry, as a matter of fact, which I never post of, because A) It don't matter, and B) I don't want peeps buggin' me for gear...it happens. That's my day job, pays quite well, I work quite hard. My 2nd job is that of a working musician - I'm the Bassist (of course) and the Contractor (read leader) of a Project- aptly called.. "THE PROJECT" I work weekends in Las Vegas- High-end resort Casino/Spa/Hotel Rhythm Section doing somewhat old-school AND contemporary R&B blues-based Motown/Mussel Shoals covers- think Aretha, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Al Green, Neville Brothers, others... Pay- GOOD. Fridays/Saturdays, 1 show per night 3-sets, a mix of groove, dance-your-ass-off R&B Funk/Soul and some exquisite R&B soulful ballads, by say, Ann Peebles (check HER out) Corinne Bailey Rae, etc. etc. It is Guitar, Drums, Keys, added percussion and Sax, sometimes (2) back-up Vocalists and of course BASS- backing the featured performer, a Hotter-than you-know-what Female Singer. SHe's talented, young, puts on a great show, and we (the band) rock in-the-pocket, quite professionally thank you. I Contract in 2-month increments, backline is there, as is FOH, lighting, we each get a room and 50% off on Hotel Restaurant meals, whcih ain't too bad!! It's awesome. Someone asked me how much we (meaing I- I operate as a DBA, I'm the Contractor) make playing there... I tell them the equivalent to a bank of quarter slots for 2 or 3 hours... HaHA. Buys my gear w/ no problem-os, I am a gear head and lovin it- 26 basses, (I think) MANY rigs. Good ones. But all that crapola aside- It is alwyas ABOUT THE MUSIC. This is serious pocket R&B groove roots music, with elements of soul, jazz, funk, pop, and R'nR. It's fer the big boys. and I worked hard AND smart to get there. Wanna see a show? PM me bro. Members bassplayer7770
Larry, thanks for the explanation. Very cool. Enjoy all the new totally sweet gear. Right now, my gig income is being saved for a downpayment on a house... Also, what do you mean "do I want to see a show?" Do you have a video on YouTube or something? Members LarryNJ
Meh, I'll stick with Genz Benz, although I really dig my corvette...... From the "Warwick Forum" a discussion of the Hellborg System- Totally agreed. I could not have thought b4 that a single 15" enclosure could sound so huge, defined, precise, and powerful. Truly amazing. This rig could easily be a stand-alone, but the LO cab- Heaven + Nirvana! Yeh, Man. E.G. One rig I have in my arsenal that I TRULY love is the Ampeg B15R- the re-issue. It's a gem. Same circuit as the NICE SLM V4BH with a special "Vintage" 15 driver- 100 tube watts of sweet, sweet old school Ampeg tone. Killer rig. But the Hellborg System- I will say it pretty much stands in a class entirely by itself- By design, componentry, and sonic output. Guys, there is nothing- nothing- really to compare it to, whether we're talking about a fine independent head, or a preamp/power amp combo, with any of the "boutique" speaker cabs---nothing. It makes me laugh-not in an "arrogant" way...I posted about my unmitigated joy with this rig in "another" forum", and a guy, whose link to his music sounds much like mine did when I was an unskilled, clueless 12-year old wanna-be rawker bass player with no groove, pocket, or brain cell... (i.e. a TOOL) said-- and I quote: "Meh! I'll take my Genz-Benz". Well I respect GB, I'm an happy owner of a Neo-Pak and a Neox 210T- It's pretty good stuff... But- Meh! It's no Hellborg System! Not by a Tennesee Mile, podner!. Simple as that.
Members Thumper
It must have been a different thread, cause ain't nothing bannable here. It was Larry's 'win a free strap' thread that bought a short trip on the Activity Bus to Banned Camp. The thread turned into an advertisement, which is a violation of the HCBF Rules & Guidelines. Welcome back Larry, by the way.
Members bassplayer7770
Welcome back, Larry. I'd be happy to try out your Hellborg system if you bring it to Central Ohio.
