Members Thunderbroom
Just got back from band rehearsal. As some of you know, one of our female singers is moving to Nashville. We've decided to not replace her and have our lead guitarist step up and sing about 1/3 of the songs. We've decided to add "Hold My Hand". The version below is not what you may have heard on Cracked Rear View. I like it better. It's kinda funky. Video Link.
Members RSBro
Our second song was "Let Her Cry" after opening with "3 AM" back in my old cover band. We let our guitard solo for about 5 minutes to fill up time and grab a drink real quick.
Members Billystrat
My old band closed with "Let Her Cry" often. Get a bar nice and drunk and bring out the Hootie!

We'd usually repeat it by the 3rd set just w/out the extended guitar solo.

Haha yeah we were never afraid to repeat stuff either. If you ever tried to explain to a drunk "I'm sorry we already played that", you learn it's easier to just give in. Hahaha, yeah that song along with ANY Sublime, you might as just well write it into the setlist it's getting played at least twice.
Members collinwho
I've never quite understood why Hootie has been reclassified as country? I do dig the song, though. That video is nice.
Moderators ThudMaker Posted January 25, 2010 Moderators Share Posted January 25, 2010 Love the funkier version in the OP, but I'm a sucker for Hootie and the Blowfish songs anyway.

Pretty sure he made country albums after his pop stuff, iirc. Which would be why they just toss all his stuff under country.

I definitely haven't heard anything by him lately, but I do know that I had heard his name come up on country radio before, so it wouldn't surprise me if he came out with a country album. Personally, I don't care how its classified, if it is good, its good. I wouldn't put everything he has written under that umbrella, but I would definitely consider some of it to fit that mold. Members sub5ound
Hootie has to be, hands down, my least favorite band to come out of the 90's. Or was it the Wallflowers? Live? Oasis? They are interchangeable.

Completely different vocal styles, let alone music. For starters, they both suck donkey cock. Do you realize that the cum-pump spurting out that vile crap is the equivlent to a contemporary Seals&Croft???It was "hard-soft", like warm ice-cream or Oldivor's anime porn. I, kind sir, put lot's of faith into my natural born sense of crap detection. How old were you when these bands were at the height of poularity? If you were any older than 20, than you need to take a step back and let the next generation tell you what is cool.

Members sub5ound
I clearly was lumping a bunch of {censored}ty bands from the same decade together. How old were you? Don't be sad. I gave an answer when I said they were interchangeable. They all sucked. How old are you?

Members Thunderbroom
I didn't expect to see this thread with 20+ responses. Darius embarked on on a country music career recently and has a CD out. My drummer has it and says it's really good. I'm one of those folks that really like Hootie & The Blowfish so I can see myself liking Rucker's solo stuff. Him crossing over to country doesn't seem like a stretch to me at all.
