Members niomosy Posted March 5, 2007 Members Share Posted March 5, 2007 Stupid graphics card. Kept trying to figure out what the problem was. It turns out that the thermal paste on the chip was pretty much gone. I scraped off the old layer which had turned to crust, put a new layer of paste on and, bam! Instan 12C drop in idle temps I had a feeling this was the case about a month ago. I'd put in the PCI slot cooler and that appeared to have solved the problem. I should have still checked the card out since I had a pretty good air flow going through my case. I didn't really think air was the issue. Oh well.
