Band Pay: How much should it be for this gig?

One time, we played in downtown Taunton, MA, and the whole PA system and band power was being run off of a single street lamp. This was in the 1990's, but Taunton was still kicking it old school. Good times.

well, that could have been a pretty substantial amount of power available, couldn't it.

How was the gig??

Actually really well. I was kind of dreading it, but we had a nice polite listening crowd, a few dancers, and we got nice applause. We even had a request for an encore, which we had to decline because the city police told us we had to stop playing at 10 because of noise ordinances. Really a nice pleasant gig. Other than the heat, I wish they all went that well.

Amazes me how many people can't seem to figure out this simple concept..

Yeah, I was once given grief by the leader of a band I auditioned for because the bass amp I took was a 1200 watt (@ 2 ohms) hybrid (Sunn 1200S). I had to point out that, yeah, but I'm playing thru a single 8 ohm cab (still a hefty 600 watts or so) but my master volume is on about point 8!
