Members postbop64
I was looking at an EAW JF80> It's configuration is two 6.5" speakers and a 1.75" horn. My question is how does this this configuration compare next to a good high end 12" and horn speaker cab arrangement. Does two 6.5" speakers add up to one 12"? Members nobrainer440
In case you dont wan't to do the math, I am a very bored mechanical engineering student. (6.5 in / 2)^2 * PI * 2 = 33.18 sq. in. (12 in / 2)^2 * PI = 113.1 sq. in. Which moves more air? Hmmmm... EDIT:It has been pointed out that I am a moron, and forgot to multiply the 6.5" area by two. (6.5 in / 2)^2 * PI * 2 = 66.36 sq. in.

Members agedhorse
In this case, the reason for using 2 smaller drivers is to lower the profile of the cabinet for lip and under balcony applications. I have one and it's good, but LF rolls off around 100Hz.
Members ATOMICDOG1
We use 4-6 of them run off a pair of matrices at larger shows for apron fills so that the audience in the first couple of rows can hear better. They rock for being as small as they are. In our application though, the low end is still supplied by the subs on either side of the stage. Guest Anonymous
I own EAW JF-80's I also own EAW JF-260's (12" cone cabinet of similar design to JF-80's) There is a world of difference in the performance of the two cabinets.
