Members nin4269
I'm looking for something not too expensive, and readily available that I can replace some worn out carpet. Just any paint that I can buy locally or similar. Any suggestions?
Members preacherman672
Duplicolor truck bed liner from walmart works and they also sell it in a spray can for touch up. If you use just the spray cans it can get pretty expensive though. Stinks to high heaven too. Duratex is my personal choice. The new high build formula is supposed to be even better but I haven't tried it yet. http://acrytech.com
Members agedhorse
What is the base material... what kind of plywood? You will need to getthe surface really clean, meaning lots of elbow grease and sanding, imperfections will show through even moderately textured surfaces. Otherwise any coating can de-bond causing you even more grief. Maybe recarpeting is an option?
Members preacherman672
Duratex will cover some moderate imperfections when sprayed on. If your speakers are particle board or OSB then definately go back with carpet IMO. Les
Members twostone
hope they didn't use contact cement on the rat fur because it's gonna take a a 55 gallon drum of elbow grease to get it off. Good luck to ya let us know how the out come goes.

CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted October 11, 2007 CMS Author Share Posted October 11, 2007 I suggest recovering your "carpet" covered speakers with new "carpet".As far as removing contact cement if you decide to paint the cabinets, I recommend Goo-Be-Gone or other similar adhesive solvent. And if at all possible work outdoors, preferably with a solvent-rated respirator.
Members MDLMUSIC
I bought a Peavey KB60 keyboard amp at a thrift store for $50. The amp worked fine, but about half of the tolex had been torn off. I removed the rest and covered the amp with purple leopardskin fabric. I just stapled it at the corners. It's been on there for over three years now and I use the amp pretty regularly. I also added a new logo that I thought was appropriate.
