Members 2tall
I want to buy some main speakers.I will be using them both for music playback (DJ) and the band may use them at times also. I would love to have the JBL SR4743X's, but I cannot afford them, so whats the closest I can get? I have a nes QSC GX5 amp to use for power. It pushes 500 watts per channel stereo at 8 ohms. I already have subs....Yorkville LS808 and plenty of power for them.I also have mixer, EQ, etc. My budget $1500USD Thanks for your opinions:thu:

Members 2tall
I think the OP already has an amp. Yes I do have a QSC GX5 - 500 watts per channel at 8 ohms. Anyway, thanks for the recommendations so far.I know the MRX 515 sounds really good, because that is the speaker that my band uses as its mains...we use 2 per side flown in a horizontal array upon triangle truss and crank stands....works well.I'm tempted to go with them so that we could even build on our system if the need arises...i.e. outdoor events, etc. What do you think about these:http://www.djtronix.com/sonict212fr2.htmlSONIC - T212 FR/2What is an S300 woofer?I wonder if it is an eminece...maybe similar to a delta...? Members 2tall
Another good consideration. Done. Got 2 JBL MRX515's Got them for $542 each and a $50 rebate still on the way for each GC price match. Good sound, light weight, fair price. Thanks dangordon for the heads up for Northern Lights! Thanks agedhorse for your opinions! Thanks to the rest of you for your input.
Members agedhorse
I think you will be happy. Be reasonable in powering them, ~600 watts per box maximum. High pass them at 50Hz. Amp's limiter ON.

Amp's limiter ON. I'm using a QSC GX5 amp, which is rated at 500 watts per side at 8 ohms. Also have a dbx active x-over. They are crossed at 100 Htz. 40 Htz filter on. Also am using an Alesis limiter/compressor/gate, and an EV 231 EQ which is almost flat...reducing a small amout of mids is about it. Sounds really good.! Members agedhorse
The amp has a limiter in it already, don't even bother with the Alesis unit.
