limiter question

If my amp has limiter settings of -3, -6, -12 and I have it set at -6 and it clips once in a while should I change the limiter to -12 would that help it?

If you're talking about a Crown XTI - If you're hearing clipping with it set at -6db it is not the amp clipping.

yepp im talking about the crown xti 4000 the amp would flash red once in a while. is that okay and safe? or should i set the limiter to -12?

Are you sure that "flashing red" isn't just from hitting the limiter threshold? If so setting it lower will make it easier to hit  .

My thoughts too.

If the OP is limiting at -6dB, it would have made more sense for him to get a smaller amp (say 1/2 the size) and limit at -3dB. It's a cheaper and equiv. solution.
