Members ermghoti II
At practice last night, one of my Carvin 1588s made a boom, as if somebody had unplugged the board, a flash of light was observed through the ports, and it started distorting intermittently in the highs. I assume the flash and distortion represent the death of the tweeter. However, the booming, or at least surging bass, like a burst of LF feedback, pesists in little bursts. Could this be related to the tweeter, is the xover dead, one of the amps gone south? Any chance this is easily repairable, or should I just Craigslist up a replacement, or start the IEM argument with the band again?
Members dboomer
You may have simply exploded the lamp/fuses in the speakers. That is their intended purpose. Open 'em up and check it.

Along with the possibility of a catastrophic amp failure.
Members Al Poulin
Could it be DC from one of the amp outputs?
Members ermghoti II
I'll try to check tonight. I fear the power amp(s) is a possibility.
