Members ehagen09
I have a unpowered mixer and unpowered speakers and was wondering if a 4 channel Yamaha YPA-700 amp would work to power this? I just play small clubs and coffee houses. At the moment, I can't afford to buy a powered mixer or speakers. thanks for any help! eric

Members Gregidon
You'd be much better off finding a used real pro-audio amp on craigslist or the like. You can probably pick up an older model for

Members cappttenron
I bet if you look around you could find a good used small amp for under $100 bucks on craigs or ebay. Do you have any budget to work with?
Members ehagen09
The only thing close that I've found is someone who has a Peavey cs-400 but wants $150 for it. I'd like to spend around $100 or less. I'm in Green Bay Wisconsin

At least you get a warranty and they dont get bad reviews at all. The bad thing about amps is they are heavy and I believe this would ship free. Figure on ebay probably 35 bucks just for shipping. So lets say you score a used one for 100 bucks your 135 deep and no warranty and have no clue how the amp was treated. So unless you can score one at swap meet or something I would probably pony up the 179 bucks if it was me. It will take about 300 bucks to get a brand name mixer entry level model. http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Phonic-MAX-1000-Power-Amplifier?sku=501104 Maybe agedhorse has something laying around he wants to get rid off If you want to build a nice system a piece at a time this QSC amp is a great place to start. http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/QSC-GX3-Stereo-Power-Amplifier?sku=481804
Members agedhorse
A new QSC GX-3 would be the start of a nice system and you can get one new with a 6 year warranty for not a whole lot more than the used CS-400.
