Members bluesmann
Standing waves? room acoustics. Get a grandma. basically a piece of ply with foam on the bottom. Set your amp on it. add a parametric EQ
Phil O'Keefe
Great tip - but I think Auralex spells it "Gramma."
Members bluesmann
Thank you Phil for the correction. I have one rate in my closet. Some stages are not built that well, so the bassist and I both carried one.
Members DeepEnd
What's the amp and cab' date=' you are using?[/quote'] A Roland Cube 80XL combo. As I said, I notice it standing next to the amp and the ''boom'' seems to be coming from the amp or somewhere near it so standing waves or other room resonances are unlikely IMHO. Later this week I'm going to stop by the local mom and pop and buy a set of straight medium strings (11-50 or so) to even out the gauges, then tweak the EQ and turn off the reverb if necessary. My gut is telling me it's an EQ issue but we'll see.
