Cynicism about how the music industry works is hardly new...

 

Anyone remember this old mid 70s Sugarloaf song - Don't Call Us, We'll Call You?

The first single from Richard Marx (Don't Mean Nothing) was also a poke in the eye to the record industry, and Hollywood in general.

Larry Cordel and Lonesome Standard Time did a song a few years back called "Murder on Music Row" and talks about how Nashville changed and pushed out traditional country music.
