Members johnbarnesiii Posted June 3, 2015 Members Posted June 3, 2015 Hello, What is the best virtual instrument software to achieve an old, vintage, analog-y, lo-fi drum sound? An example is the Chamberlin Rythmate used in the SampleTron software. Thanks in advance!

Members WRGKMC Posted June 4, 2015 Members Posted June 4, 2015 You can make many drums sound vintage like using proper mixing techniques doing stuff like rolling off the lows and highs, add reverb making it a mono mix etc. . I think the beats themselves are more important at getting vintage sounds then the drums are myself. Vintage songs had vintage beats and vintage recording quality. Anything after the 70's pretty much qualifies a modern because recording techniques had been refined at that point using multitracking.
Members johnbarnesiii Posted June 4, 2015 Author Members Posted June 4, 2015 Thanks, I'm looking for virtual sounds that already have done a great job of achieving these tones so as to avoid the time and tweaking necessary to dial them in manually. Again I really like the Chamberlin Rhythmate tones, but they are preset beats, not individual drums per se. I have a few 'vintage' tomes in my SampleTank library, they're ok but I'm looking more for dedicated software that excels in achieving these. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks so much for the input thus far!
